Deal with your own garbage
Every year we dump a massive 2.12 billion tons of waste on the planet. Waste dumping has become a way to »solve« the world’s enormous waste problem. That’s why we need to come up with better ideas quickly, before it all spins completely out of control.
In recent years, one by one, developing countries are refusing to import trash. Social media have ensured public awareness of the problem in both developing countries and the wealthy nations that export the trash. That will make it increasingly difficult to export unwanted refuse. That is why the long-term message is simple: Deal with your own garbage.
But how to do that?
Humans generated 2.01 billion tons of solid waste in 2016 and by 2050, that could increase by 70 percent unless major changes take place.
The solution could lie in new technologies and a change in social behavior. That is why companies, local authorities and startups around the world are tackling the problem head on.
The WaCo project solution
Our aim is to integrate the consumer into the waste chain system. With WaCo, consumers enjoy benefits while disposing of waste. The project idea includes making payments to consumers with cryptocurrency tokens after successfully disposing of their waste. In exchange crucial data will be obtained from consumers, which can be used by stakeholders such as the recycling industry, consumer goods manufacturers, and government bodies in charge of waste collection policies.
